Bentley's Pet Stuff expands with purchase of Wheaton store

Bentley's Pet Stuff recently expanded with the acquisition of Natural Pet Market in Wheaton.

Natural Pet Market founder Tracy Werner has joined the growing company as director of training.

"When I started Natural Pet Market 15 years ago in a 400-square-foot-store space, it was unique to have a health food store for cats and dogs. Folks would travel from far away to get what they knew as the best products and advice there was in the area. Now, the market is changing," says Werner, who attributes one of the main reasons for the transition to the increased demand in delivery service.

Instead of closing, she found Bentley's, a company that aligns with her own beliefs and commitment. "Talking to (Bentley's Owner) Lisa Senafe was like talking to myself. She's super smart about health and nutrition, and her husband Giovanni has more passion than many others in the industry. I learned that Bentley's has no 'brand loyalty', they don't sell their shelf space to the highest bidder like other stores. Profit margins aren't talked about in regards to food decisions - it's all about quality, health, and lifestyle with them."

Werner is excited to be part of the growing company. The family owned company has more than 85 stores across 11 U.S. states. "Werner's experience and passion will help train more than 400 employees and educate thousands of pet owners," said Lisa Senafe who operates Bentley's headquarters in Long Grove.

With the new acquisition of Natural Pet Market, Bentley's Pet Stuff will continue to charge forward with its mission to keep beloved pets healthy with natural foods, supplements and more, she said.

Just like Natural Pet Market that operated at 263 Rice Lake Square in Wheaton, Bentley's Pet Stuff is passionate about helping dogs and cats in need, Senafe said. They frequently give to local shelters and rescue groups, as well as host pet adoption events and host events that educate the public.

Lisa and Giovanni Senafe founded Bentley's Pet Stuff in 2008 in Arlington Heights with the vision of helping customers feel confident choosing their pet food, knowing they were making a healthy purchase for their pets.
