A lesson that sticks at St. Catherine Labouré

A fundraiser for St. Catherine Labouré School in Glenview surpassed its goal of $2,000 for the school's marketing and advertising fund.

Pastor Isaac Lara told parishioners and families if the total was $7,500, school Principal Jodi Reuter would be fastened by duct tape to a gym wall. He added, if the fundraising amount reached $10,000, Lara also would be duct-taped to the wall.

The final tally came in at $12,000.

On the morning of June 2, Labouré students, staff, parents and parishioners lined up to tape Lara and Reuter to the wall. The task took more than an hour and required 12 rolls of duct tape.

Art at The Glen

The 20th Art at the Glen will be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 29-30 at The Glen Town Center, 2030 Tower Drive.

There are around 100 participating artists listed on the website of Amdur Productions, which runs the show. The artists run the gamut of painting, photography, jewelry, woodworking, metals, ceramics, glass and mixed media.

Amdur says there will be three stages of live music as well as activities and art projects for children.

Attendees also are invited to bring gently used wall art for donation to the Chicago Furniture Bank, which distributes home furnishings and art to people leaving shelters and moving into permanent housing.
