Police stop 'high-risk' vehicle outside Des Plaines Binny's

A potentially dangerous traffic stop Wednesday evening came to an end in a Des Plaines parking lot, Mount Prospect police say.

An ongoing investigation that began in Mount Prospect led officers to Des Plaines, where they pulled over a vehicle about 3 p.m. at Golf Road and Route 83, Mount Prospect Police Crime Prevention Officer Greg Sill said.

Both the driver and passenger are being questioned by police, though neither have been charged.

Sill declined to comment whether the people in the vehicle were armed, but said the traffic stop was "high risk."

Police expect to issue a news release with more details Thursday, once charges have been filed, Sill said.

"This is an investigation from an isolated incident," he said. "It wasn't a random act or anything like that. There's no risk to the community."
