Hanover Park man gets 30 years for home invasions, attempted sexual assaults

A Hanover Park man, who authorities say entered a Schaumburg home and attempted to sexually assault a woman in 2016 and did the same to a Streamwood woman in 2014, pleaded guilty to the charges.

Saul Salazar, 40, was sentenced to 30 years in prison in exchange for pleading guilty to the class X felonies. He received credit for 275 days in custody. He must complete at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

In both cases, fingerprints found at the scene matched Salazar, prosecutors said.

The 34-year-old Schaumburg woman said she awoke after 3 a.m. May 29, 2016, to find a man groping and kissing her, prosecutors said during Salazar's bail hearing last year. The woman bit him on the arm and he fled through sliding doors.

A similar home invasion and attempted sexual assault occurred about 4 a.m. May 26, 2014. A 26-year-old woman reported a man entered her bedroom - where she slept with her 1-year-old child - and touched her while she slept. Thinking it was her boyfriend, the woman uttered her boyfriend's name, causing Salazar to flee, prosecutors said.
