More prison for repeat prescription pill offenses by former Elgin woman

A former Elgin woman who was once rearrested on the same day she bonded out of jail on charges she illegally possessed prescription drug pills is headed back to prison.

Colleen L. Bagley, 41, now of Fox Lake, recently pleaded guilty to felony unlawful possession of a prescription form and was sentenced to three years in prison, according to Kane County court records.

Last August, Bagley was arrested at the Elgin Meijer pharmacy after she presented a bogus prescription that was written to someone else. She walked past a police officer who was called to investigate and was arrested in the parking lot.

Bagley had previous convictions for the same offense, which carried a top penalty of five years in prison.

Bagley has had numerous arrests for trying to obtain pharmacy drugs using forged or stolen prescription forms from doctors, according to court records.

She once posted bond on pending drug charges in November 2013 only to be arrested later that night on charges she illegally possessed hydrocodone pills and intended to deliver them.

Kane County Judge James Hallock admonished Bagley that it was her "last chance" before sentencing her to five years' probation in April 2014.

She was later arrested and sentenced to prison.

A message left with Bagley's attorney, James McLane, was not immediately returned.

Under state law, Bagley can have her sentence cut in half for good behavior. She also gets credit for nearly seven months served at the Kane County jail while the case was pending.
