Elgin pedophile sentenced to 15 years in prison
A 76-year-old Elgin man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to a child rape and sexual abuse from 2006.
Robert R. Jahnke, of the 1200 block of Country Club Road, pleaded guilty to felony predatory criminal sexual assault of a child younger than 13, along with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a victim younger than 13, said his attorney, Brian Irwin.
The guilty pleas were accepted by Kane County Judge James Hallock last week.
Prosecutors dismissed remaining felony charges in the case against Jahnke, who was accused of assaulting and abusing three victims.
All three charges that Jahnke pleaded guilty to pertain to a sexual assault and sexual abuse from April 2006, records show.
Jahnke was arrested in June 2016 on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault, record show, and had been held on $500,000 bail.
He was initially accused of sexually assaulting two girls he knew from August 2005 through August 2008 and from January 2005 through January 2009, according to court records.
A grand jury later indicted Jahnke on charges he assaulted a third victim, who also was younger than 13 at the time, between February 2015 and June 2016, records show.
Jahnke could be in prison for about 10 years.
He must serve 85 percent of his 10-year sentence for sexual assault and under state law, he can have his five-year term for sexual abuse cut in half for good behavior. He also gets credit for nine months served at the Kane County jail.
Jahnke also must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
