St. Charles library to host business programs for small business owners

The St. Charles Public Library will host two hands-on workshop sessions for small business owners who wish to learn or improve their ability to use QuickBooks.

QuickBooks Session 1 is scheduled for Thursday, March 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Huntley Meeting Room, 1 S. Sixth Ave. Elliot Hershik, general manager of Supporting Strategies, and local SCORE representatives will cover the basics of QuickBooks, including the five types of accounts and how they work together to form an accounting system.

QuickBooks Session 2 will cover more intermediate level topics such as sub-accounts, memorized transaction and financial reporting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 9. This session also will address analysis of financial statements as part of reporting. In both sessions, participants may bring a laptop computer and work in personal copies of QuickBooks during the workshop.

Hershik brings over 30 years of experience in accounting and operations, including a long career managing staff in bookkeeping, billing, budget and payroll. His expertise spans all aspects of accounting services, including auditing, tax filings, financial statement preparation, and accounts payable and receivable.
