Culver's of Morton Grove Partners With Local Family Affected By Type 1 Diabetes For JDRF Fundraiser February 16

As a Loyola Academy freshman living with type 1 diabetes, Scott Andolino needs to be keenly aware of his daily dietary habits. For Culver's of Morton Grove team member Mason Probasco, type 1 diabetes has been part of his life for more than a decade.

On Thursday, February 16, Scott and Mason will spearhead a donate and dine fundraising event for JDRF at Culver's in Morton Grove, 7310 W. Dempster St., from 4-8 p.m. Probasco and the Andolino family will serve meals to guests who dine inside the restaurant as well as those ordering at the drive thru.

In addition to accepting donations for JDRF that evening, Culver's will offer specially priced $2 mini mixers all day, with $1 from the sale of each benefitting the charity.

Since mid-January, guests who have dined at more than 30 Chicago-area Culver's have donated their spare change to JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research.

Celebrities including the late Mary Tyler Moore and Chicago Cubs legend Ron Santo both lived with type 1 diabetes and helped raise millions of dollars for research into the disease that affects 1.25 million Americans, including 200,000 people under the ages of 20.

"We're grateful to the entire Culver's of Lockport team for all of their support and encourage the community to dine with us on February 16," said JDRF Illinois Executive Director, Mimi Crabtree. "Living with type 1 diabetes is difficult and even life threatening. Those affected serve as an inspiration by facing the disease's challenges with courage and perseverance, and they don't let it stand in the way of achieving their goals."
