Fourth Street UMC honors 29 church leaders

About 30 local residents were among church leaders honored at Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Aurora Sunday, Jan. 8.

Pastor Deborah Tinsley Taylor presided at an annual recognition program during a 10 a.m. worship service. She was assisted by lay leader Ralph Brian and Chris Martin, church secretary.

The annual recognition program saluted church leaders for sharing their personal time, talents and other gifts.

Rev. Taylor said, "This ministry is a blessing and serious responsibility. It recognizes our special gifts and calls you to work among us and for us. We thank you for accepting your obligation and challenge you to offer your best to the Lord, to this people and to our ministry in the world."

Rev. Taylor read about 30 names for recognition. Additionally, she cited unnamed persons elected to church offices, ushers, greeters and weekly post-worship hospitality hosts.

Aurorans recognized were Al Benson, Judy Bieritz, Doug Booth, Beth and Tom Carter, Joan Crawford, Giulianna and Paul Eggert, Rev. Clyde Galow, Jim and Laurel Gilbert, Sue Gilla, Dennis and Edie Hard, Andy and Louise Hari, Bonnie and Stan McGraw, Chris Martin, Jim Painter, Marsha Simmons and Linda and Roger Spurgin.

Also recognized were Marilyn Michelini of Batavia, Mary Yarbrough of Hinckley, Joe and Mona Middleton of Montgomery, and Caroline Carter and Dan Kenyon of Oswego.
