Dr. Phillip Fijal becomes President of the Chicago Dental Society

Phillip Fijal DDS, a general dentist who practices in Des Plaines, was sworn in as president of the Chicago Dental Society (CDS) at a ceremony held on Sunday, November 6, at the Ritz Carlton Chicago.

The society, which was established in 1864, has more than 4,400 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties, making it the largest local society of the American Dental Association. The Chicago Dental Society, the respected leader in scientific dental meetings, will be hosting its 152nd Midwinter Meeting February 23-25, 2017 at the McCormick Place West.

As president of CDS, Dr. Fijal will oversee the Midwinter Meeting. The meeting is one of the largest exhibits of dental products in North America and ranks among Chicago's top 20 conventions. The meeting typically generates more than $42 million for the local economy, according to Choose Chicago.

Dr. Fijal graduated from the Loyola University School of Dentistry. He is a Fellow of the Odontographic Society of Chicago, International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Fijal is also the President on the Board of Directors of the Jeffrey Pride Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research in Barrington. Since 2000, the Foundation has raised $2 million for research. In addition, he is the Chairman of the Northwest Community Hospital Dental Advisory Board in Arlington Heights.

Dr. Fijal resides in Barrington with his wife, Janice. They have two children, Phillip and Kristen.
