Serial library foot toucher pleads guilty

An Aurora man already banned from libraries in Naperville, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn has admitted to inappropriately touching women's feet in Naperville and Warrenville.

Omar Carlton, 45, of the 1000 block of Fifth Avenue, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of aggravated battery in a public place after authorities said he touched women's feet on April 20 while at the Warrenville Public Library and last October at the North Central College library in Naperville.

He faces two to five years in prison when he's sentenced early next year.

Prosecutors said a woman was working in a library cubicle at the Warrenville Public Library on April 20 when she felt something brush against her feet several times. Authorities said Carlton, on at least four occasions, placed his bare foot on top of the woman's open-toed shoes while she was working.

The woman immediately told library staff members and they called Warrenville police, who identified Carlton as a suspect.

Carlton was out on bond at the time and accused of making "intentional or prolonged contact" with the bare feet of at least four women studying inside North Central College's Oesterle Library in Naperville on Oct. 8, 2015.

Carlton is next due in court on Dec. 15 when his sentencing date will be set. He has been held on $200,000 bail since his April arrest.
