Kids can trick-or-treat at Algonquin, Geneva Commons malls

There are Halloween happenings planned for families this month at opposite ends of the Randall Road corridor.

Both Geneva Commons and Algonquin Commons are hosting events geared at kids and their families during October.

From 3 to 5 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 23, little ghosts and goblins can trick-or-treat at the stores within the Geneva Commons mall along Randall Road.

There will be signs in the windows of the stores that have the treats as part of the safe family-friendly Halloween event at Geneva Commons.

Some stores will have staffers standing outside handing out the candy, and some invite your costumed characters inside to get their treats.

The treats are available for all costumed kiddos who want to trick-or-treat their way through the mall that day.

The following weekend, the Algonquin Commons mall along Randall Road will be holding its annual Halloween event geared for kids and families.

The annual Boo Party and Trick-or-Treating Fun event begins at Algonquin Commons at noon on Sunday, Oct. 30.

At the event, there will be magicians, jugglers, pumpkin decorating, balloons sculptors, face painters, caricature artists, live music and more starting at noon.

Just like at Geneva Commons, there also will be trick-or-treating through the line of stores at Algonquin Commons for the kids.

Select stores will have treats to hand out for the costumed kids celebrating Halloween at the Boo Party.

The activities at the party are geared toward kids ages 12 and younger; however, entire families are welcome to attend the event together.

Many families make this an annual tradition at Algonquin Commons. However, if you've been in the past, there are some changes you will want to be aware of.

The fun at Algonquin Commons is in a new location this year. Participants should head to the main southwest parking lot of the mall for the events such as face painting and entertainment.

For information on either of the trick-or-treat events at the malls contact the Geneva Commons mall office at (630) 262-0044, or the Algonquin Commons mall office at (847) 458-2700.

Seasonal Fun: There is more Halloween family fun to be had this month along the Randall Road corridor at the Chick-fil-A restaurant in Batavia.

The restaurant, at 185 N. Randall Road, is hosting some seasonal celebrations this month on its weekly Tuesday family nights.

Every Tuesday the restaurant on the west side of Randall Road hosts a family night from 5 to 7 p.m. There is a different theme or activity each week, depending on the time of year.

On the Tuesday, Oct. 18, family night will be a Kids Club Pumpkin Party, with pumpkin-themed fun.

The following week, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, all of the kids who come to the restaurant in costume during family time will receive a treat bag.

For information contact the restaurant at (630) 761-2640.
