Wheaton teens make a difference in the breast cancer fight

Teenagers from all over Wheaton are in the pink -- they are wearing pink, that is. In recognition of breast cancer awareness month, students from Wheaton Warrenville South High School and Wheaton North High School are facing off in a Real Teens Wear Pink competition.

Throughout the month of October participating students will be wearing pink to school, to sporting events and everywhere else they go. They will be asking for donations, selling Real Teens Wear Pink items and increasing awareness of the research and life changing services offered by the American Cancer Society.

"This is a very exciting project that proves that even though as students we may have limited means, we still can make a big impact," said Payton Miller, freshman at Wheaton North High School. "Almost everyone I know has had a friend or family member touched by cancer, if we don't do something, who will?"

At the end of the month, the school with the most amount of money raised will be crowned the champion of the inaugural Real Teens Wear Pink competition.

All funds raised will go to the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.
