St. Charles library to offer free college workshops

The St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave., is offering two free college workshops for high school students and parents in the month of October.

These workshops will provide information on college financial preparation for students and parents who attend.

The Financial Aid Process is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Huntley Meeting Room. A speaker from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will outline the financial aid process and provides insight on ways to maximize access to financial aid to help pay for college. It introduces the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, summarizes state and federal aid programs, and identifies trusted sources of information.

FAFSA Step-by-Step is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Huntley Meeting Room. This presentation will provide a step-by-step review of the FAFSA that includes: what information is required to complete the form; student eligibility and dependency questions; and how to avoid common mistakes in completing the form.

Registration for all workshops is required. Sign up at the reference desk in person, or by calling (630) 584-0076, ext. 1. For information, visit www.stcharleslibrary.org.
