Crossroads Christian Youth Center receives $10,000 grant

Crossroads Christian Youth Center of Big Rock has been approved for a generous grant of $10,000 from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley to help replace a portion of their roof.

"Every time there is a hard rain, we have to worry about water leaking into our building," says Doug Pierson, director of Crossroads CYC. "After years of having to always replace stained ceiling tiles, I am looking forward to the day when it rains hard and all the water stays on our roof, and I don't have to do any cleanup."

Over the years, the Community Foundation has funded a number of other projects for Crossroads CYC, including: a new parking lot, softball lights, a new copier, carpeting for their gym, and a new well. The continued support of the Community Foundation has been vital to on the ongoing operations of Crossroads CYC.

"Hundreds of youth each year in our region and beyond benefit greatly from these positive programs," said Jeff Hartman, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley. "It is a privilege to be able to work with this organization and the many others that make our community a wonderful place to live and work."

Crossroads Christian Youth Center has been serving youth in the area for 43 years through sports programs and peer group activities. Their main focus is on high school students, training them to be leaders of tomorrow. Some of their programs include a summer day camp, mission trip, church softball leagues, home-school sports teams, family night, and a weekly youth group.
