Classic cars displayed at Street Fest
An exhibit of original-owner cars was on display Saturday, Sept. 10, at Randhurst Village's first Street Fest in Mount Prospect.
The exhibit was organized by Matt Avery, the Daily Herald's classic car columnist who writes his weekly Classic Recollections column for the newspaper. Avery also highlighted the creations of two suburban custom car shops during the event.
Most of the owners who were invited to bring their cars for the exhibit have been featured in Avery's column. Original owners are those who bought their cars new from a dealer, sometimes 40 and 50 years ago, and who continue to drive, maintain and own them decades later.
Custom shops on hand to participate in the Builder's Showcase were Hot Rod Autobody of Schiller Park, Dream Werke of Bensenville and Custom Classics of Island Lake.
Randhurst Village's Street Fest also featured shops from the outdoor mall, children's activities and entertainment provided by the Modern Day Romeos. Finalists from the Daily Herald's 2016 Suburban Chicago's Got Talent competition also performed.
