Free Back-to-School haircuts provided by Watch City Lodge No. 131

Watch City Lodge No. 131 (Free and Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliated) of Elgin hosted its third annual Back-to-School Haircut event on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Elgin Township facility.

"The turnout was excellent! Our lodge provided free haircuts to approximately 50 prekindergarten through high school-age males who attend schools in Elgin, which is up from about 30 students in prior years," states Worshipful Master Jerry Alexander. "In addition, we gave each participating student book bags and school supplies to help then get off to a great start. Free food and refreshments were also provided."

Alexander continued, "Watch City Lodge No. 131 is very pleased to serve our Elgin community in any way we can. Our mission is to provide services to the Elgin community throughout the year, which includes free back-to-school haircuts and school supplies for Elgin's school age males, food giveaways during various holidays, tutoring and mentoring our youth, July Fourth parade participation, and picnics, as well as other social events."
