Buffalo Grove man gets probation in fatal 2015 crash

A 65-year-old Buffalo Grove man pleaded guilty to failing to report an accident involving a death, court records show.

In exchange for his guilty plea, Allan Dorfman was sentenced to 24 months of probation and ordered to pay $634 in fines for the 2015 crash that killed Jose Gonzalez-Navarette, according to court records.

Prosecutors say Dorfman was driving east on Algonquin Road near Briarwood Drive in Mount Prospect about 8:10 p.m. on March 22, 2015, when his vehicle struck Gonzalez-Navarette, 46.

Dorfman called Mount Prospect police two days later after watching a TV news report containing video of the accident, prosecutors said. Dorfman told police his car had been damaged but he thought ice was responsible, authorities said.

Mark Sutter, Dorfman's attorney, said his client did not believe he had hit a person.
