Warrenville woman dies after her motorcycle crashes into Mount Prospect building

A 51-year-old Warrenville woman died Sunday after the 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle she was driving crashed into an industrial building in Mount Prospect, police said.

Officers responded to a call at 4:01 p.m. of a motorcycle that had struck a building at 1551 Bishop Court, police said. After emergency crews arrived, they determined Charlene Thompson, the driver of the motorcycle, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Preliminary investigation shows Thompson was riding in the parking lot at 1660 Feehanville Drive when she lost control of the motorcycle, police said. She drove off the property and into the side of the Bishop Court building which houses E-T-A, a company that designs and produces circuit breakers and power management systems, according to police.

Mount Prospect Police Cmdr. Robert Smith said a man who was riding his own motorcycle with Thompson reported the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, and Mount Prospect police ask anyone with information about it to contact the department's Major Crash Investigation Team at (847) 870-5656.
