Prosecutors: Woman ran down boyfriend after argument over infidelity

A 20-year-old LaGrange woman is being held on $200,000 bail in DuPage County jail after being accused of running over her boyfriend with his vehicle in Lombard.

Elizabeth Donatelli is charged with aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery in a public location. Those charges are expected to be enhanced, however, because the 22-year-old victim from Villa Park was critically injured in the attack.

Assistant State's Attorney Bethany Jackson said Donatelli, a server at a Westmont restaurant, and her boyfriend had been arguing over infidelity issues Saturday in a car he was driving. Jackson said the victim eventually pulled the white, four-door Toyota sedan over at 5:19 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Main and Ash streets in Lombard and began walking away.

Jackson said Donatelli then jumped in the driver's seat and ran down the victim.

"He was on the sidewalk and she hit him," Jackson told Judge Richard Russo, while seeking a $500,000 bail amount. "She left the roadway and hit him."

Jackson said police arrived to find Donatelli with her arms under the profusely bleeding victim and pulling him back toward the vehicle. Jackson said officers reported smelling alcohol on Donatelli and she admitted to taking Xanax.

Police said Tuesday no measure of her blood alcohol level was collected. Jackson said Donatelli was required to provide a urine sample, but the sample she provided is believed to have been just water.

The victim is in critical condition in a drug-induced coma at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, being treated for several injuries to his head and legs. Jackson said the victim was having surgery Tuesday morning to attempt to relieve blood clots on his brain.
