Fire departments compete in first Rib Off

Have you ever wondered which local fire department cooks the best ribs?

The first Fire Department Rib Off, held Saturday, June 25, at the Hilton Chicago/Northbrook, pitted two local departments against each other to answer that very question.

The Prospect Heights Fire District and Mount Prospect Fire Department squared off in the rib throw down under the watchful eye of celebrity judges Prospect Heights Mayor Nicolas Helmer and Wheeling President Dean Argiris.

The Mount Prospect Fire Department prevailed as the 2016 champs and walked away with a new smoker for the firehouse.

The event benefited Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook.
