Join Schaumburg library's summer challenge

All ages are invited to sign up for the Summer Challenge, "From Seed to Bloom," beginning Wednesday, June 1, at the Schaumburg Township District Library's three locations in Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates and Hanover Park.

Participants will read, play, explore and learn during this summer program. A new online log makes it easy to track summer reading and activities, including several garden-related programs, concerts and trips.

On the June 1 kick-off day, all ages are invited to join a group art project from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the kidsZone of the Central Library at 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.

Participants will paint a huge wooden cutout of the words "From Seed to Bloom" created by Chicago artist Mathew Hoffman. Later, popular a capella group AcRock will perform from 7 to 7:45 p.m. in Schaumburg's Town Square at the corner of Schaumburg and Roselle roads.
