Glendale Heights man charged in two bank robberies on same day

A 38-year-old Glendale Heights man is in federal custody on charges he robbed two banks in the village on the same day.

David A. Lee was apprehended Thursday by Glendale Heights police and then turned over to the FBI on Friday and charged with two counts of bank robbery. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.

Police said Lee's robbery spree began around 11 a.m. Thursday when he entered the Parkway Bank at 2250 Bloomingdale Road and demanded money from a teller. He did not display a weapon and there were no injuries.

Employees told police the suspect entered and left the bank through the front door and was seen leaving the area in a silver Saturn sedan.

Roughly two hours later, police responded to the TCF Bank at the corner of North Avenue and Main Street where employees said a man entered through the front door, demanded money from a teller and left the same way he came in. They said he fled the area on foot.

Responding officers from Glendale Heights and Carol Stream said they found Lee driving a silver Saturn sedan in the Menards parking lot next to the bank and took him into custody.
