Police: Man beaten, robbed in Palatine parking lot

A pair of suburban teenagers were behind bars Wednesday after their arrest on allegations they lured a man to a Palatine parking lot where he was beaten and robbed.

Palatine police said the man reported he had gone to the parking lot in the 700 block of East Rand Grove Lake early Tuesday morning to meet with a female friend, later identified as Alicia Valerio of the 100 block of Longmeadow Drive in Lindenhurst.

As the man approached her, police said, an unknown male confronted him, punched him in the abdomen and then kicked him in the head after he had fallen to the ground. Police say the man then held the victim down while Valerio took his wallet. They both then drove off in Valerio's vehicle, according to police.

Police said investigators later located Valerio's vehicle at a nearby motel, where they arrested her and Derrius Wilson, 19, of the 100 block of West Hamilton Drive in Palatine. Both are charged with one count of robbery, police said, and were scheduled to appear in court Wednesday in Rolling Meadows.
