Glenbard South Art Students Win Top Honors at IHSAE and Metro Suburban Art Conference

Glenbard South's Art Department was well represented at the IHSAE and Metro Suburban Art Conference this past week. Over 100 schools and 2,500 artists submitted work to the Illinois High School Regional Art Exhibition held at the Zhou B. Art Center in Bridgeport on March 6. The event was attended by over 3,500 people. Junior Sam Nishimura received top honors with a Best of Show Award in the Painting Category and Senior James Brosnan was awarded a Gold Medal in the Sculpture Category. Works by Courtney Andexler, Brianna Alfonzo and Ben Nishimura were also chosen as finalists to compete for over $15M in scholarship offers and $15K in IHSAE awards.

Seven Glenbard South Art Students were also selected to represent the school at the Metro Suburban Art Conference on March 8th. For the 5th consecutive year, Glenbard South artists were chosen as Conference Champions. James Brosnan earned a Best of Show for his post-modern piece, Katherine Deitch and Ben Nishimura won 1st Place Awards in their categories, Genevieve Kettleson earned 2nd place and Natalie Sweet was awarded a 3rd place award. Works by Aaron Ruggiero and Sam Nishimura were also chosen as finalists.
