Pedestrian killed by car in Glendale Heights

A 59-year-old Glendale Heights woman who was struck by a car Sunday night along Glen Ellyn Road at Lynn Court has died, authorities said Monday.

Glendale Heights police said Jesus Cruz died of her injuries at Adventist Glen Oaks Hospital in Glendale Heights.

The crash occurred about 8:26 p.m. when Cruz may have been attempting to cross Glen Ellyn Road, police said. Cruz was hit by a southbound 2015 Volkswagen Passat driven by a 50-year-old Wheaton resident.

On Monday, authorities said accident Investigators and evidence technicians from the Glendale Heights Police Department, working in conjunction with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, are investigating the collision.

Deputy Chief Steve Ewoldt said no citation has been issued against the driver, as the investigation is ongoing. Police have taken some statements and measurements, but Ewoldt said investigators didn't have enough information Monday afternoon to determine if the driver will be cited.
