We're stuck with what we wished for

An old adage says beware of what you wish for as you may get it.

Governor Rauner is a prime example. He was voted in by the people who wished to change the politics of Springfield.

The people got what they wished for and the situation worsened. This is largely due to conflicting ideologies held by Governor Rauner and the leaders of the Democrat majority in the General Assembly.

This has resulted in many downsides mostly centered on the lack of a state budget as we end the seventh month of the current fiscal year. Every day we see something in the media that shows the devastating impact of this battle. Mental health programs are closing, senior meal programs are being curtailed, state grants to low income students are not being made, a state university is considering bankruptcy, etc.

We got what many voters wished for and we are stuck with it for another three years. The least we can do is urge the politicians to forego their ideology and make the needs of the people of Illinois their top priority.
