Founder of Woodfield Area Children's Organization dies at 82
Joe Sernett of Hoffman Estates, founder and past president of the Woodfield Area Children's Organization, died Tuesday at the age of 82.
Founded 35 years ago, WACO is a nonprofit charity that provides assistance to needy children in the North and Northwest suburbs through scholarships and various financial support initiatives.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road in Schaumburg.
The funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1451 W. Bode Road in Schaumburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Children's Advocacy Center, 640 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates, IL 60169.
