Sign up for 'Sprint to Spring' 5K set for May 7

Join the third annual Hanover Township "Sprint to Spring 5K Run/Walk" to be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the township's Izaak Walton Center & Reserve, 899 Jay St. in Elgin.

This community event is hosted by the Hanover Township Office of Community Health to promote healthy and active lifestyles in the community and raise money for the Hanover Township Foundation to help residents in financial hardship access quality health services.

5K participants will receive a performance-wear T-shirt to wear during the event. The fee is $30 through May 6. Day-of registration is available for $35. Early bird registrants are guaranteed a pair of 5K event sunglasses when you register before Feb. 1. Shirts are guaranteed to those who register before or on Friday, April 22. Sunglasses also will be available to purchase at the event for $3.

Register at the Hanover Township Senior Center, 240 S. Route 59 in Bartlett, or visit www.sprint2spring.com. A processing fee applies for online registration.

Packet pickup will be 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the center. Race-day registration will be 6:30 to 7:45 a.m.

Sponsors are needed. The levels are $100 to $1,000. In-kind donations also are welcome. If your company is interested in donating food, products or services, contact Nicole Schrader at (630) 483-5665 or nschrader@hanover-township.org. Your company will receive recognition on the event website and participant packet.

Hanover Township is looking for volunteers to assist with various positions, including course marshals, water station attendants, food/water tables and cheer stations.
