One shooting death is one too many

This is in response to Mr. Sehr's letter published on Jan. 9. You stated in your letter that you still want to take guns away from legal, lawful gun owners. But the fact is that no where in the president's executive order are they wanting to take guns away from law abiding citizens. He is just trying to reinforce existing laws to keep guns out of the hands of people that will do harm.

Secondly you stated that automobiles and the flu are the two top leading causes of death over guns being number three. Can you imagine how many more deaths there would be if autos were not registered and regulated and people did not take the flu shot to prevent illness?

So for the life of me I do not understand why "law abiding gun owners" are so against any kind of gun reform that makes sense and could possibly save lives. My only thinking is that the paranoia coming from the gunowners is by listening to people or programs that are not giving them the facts, but are telling them lies to further their agenda.

You also stated that France has had more mass shootings than the U.S. under Obama's tenure, 504 to 424, but the fact is that one death is more than I want to see. It's so easy to use numbers when it wasn't one of your loved ones that killed.
