Blood drives in Palatine, Schaumburg

January is National Blood Donor Month, and several blood donation drives are scheduled in the Northwest suburbs over the coming weeks.

Among them are ones from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at Presbyterian Church of Palatine, 800 E. Palatine Road in Palatine and from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Schaumburg Barn, 231 Civic Drive in Schaumburg.

The Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 PTA Blood Drive will be held from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at District 54's administration building, 524 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

The American Red Cross syas blood can be safely donated every 56 days, and platelets can be given every seven days. Individuals who are 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to give blood.
