Bartlett crash victim identified

An 81-year-old Bartlett woman was killed and six other people were injured, one critically, after an early-morning rollover of an SUV on Route 20 near Naperville Road on the border of Bartlett and Streamwood, authorities said.

A 2009 Cadillac Escalade was westbound on Lake Street in the inside lane of traffic when it struck the median about 12:40 a.m.

The driver lost control, and the SUV struck the curb and snow embankment north of the roadway before it rolled over on its passenger's side, still in the westbound lanes, police said.

One person was trapped under the vehicle when it came to a stop. Firefighters used rescue air bags to lift the vehicle and free the person, authorities said.

The 81-year-old female passenger, Fardous Sultana, was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

A 16-year-old male passenger was critically injured. He was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center before being airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The 52-year-old driver and four other passengers sustained nonlife-threatening injuries and were taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Elgin.
