Police: Bartlett man killed after car hits tree in Elgin
A Bartlett man was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle crash in Elgin, police said.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2010 Buick Enclave was traveling east on Higgins Road when it crossed the median and hit a tree, according to a news release from Elgin police.
The crash occurred around 4:50 p.m. just west of Randall Road, officials said. Randall and Higgins roads remained closed Sunday night.
The 55-year-old driver of the vehicle was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Authorities are withholding his identity until they notify his next of kin.
There were no other passengers in the car, police said.
The Elgin Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the crash, and an autopsy will be conducted by the Kane County coroner's office.
