Look at victims of state budget impasse

And so we begin a sixth month without a state budget because our so-called leaders put their personal and political agendas ahead of their sworn duty and continue to bicker like spoiled kids.

The impasse has no effect on their income or lifestyles. But dozens of programs that serve the needy are being eliminated or cut back. The victims are children, the elderly, the mentally and physically disabled, the working poor, the homeless, the hungry - all those on the lower rungs of our society who are unable to help themselves.

Those Springfield misfits in all three houses, most of whom are at least nominal Christians, should heed the words of Jesus: "As you have done it to the least of these ..."
