Plane makes emergency landing at Fermilab

A small plane made an emergency landing Sunday afternoon at Fermilab in Batavia, according to Fermilab.

The plane landed in a field off East Wilson Street around 4:25 p.m. after developing engine troubles, Fermilab spokesman Andre Salles said. It had originally taken off from DuPage Airport in West Chicago.

The pilot, who was the only person on board, was not injured, Salles said. Additional information was not immediately available Sunday.

Fermilab fire and security officials were at the scene, along with the Federal Aviation Administration. Fermilab officials were told that the incident is minor, and there will be no FAA investigation, Salles said.
