How Carol Stream man died in fall off ladder in Palatine still pending

The cause and manner of death for Carol Stream resident Robert Morrow, who fell from a ladder a week ago in Palatine, are still pending, according to Cook County medical examiner spokesman Frank Shuftan.

Morrow, 47, was working on satellite dishes on a two-story multifamily residential building at 235 E. Palatine Road Sept. 1 when he fell off his ladder, according to Palatine Deputy Fire Chief Patrick Gratzianna.

Morrow was working for Midwest Property Services, and one co-worker was on-site with him. Efforts to reach Midwest Property Services Tuesday evening were unsuccessful.

According to the fire department report, Morrow's co-worker heard him yell, and when he looked over, he saw Morrow falling.

Gratzianna says first responders found him without a pulse and with significant head trauma around 1 p.m. Responders were unable to revive Morrow.

"There was some question about whether he got stung by bees or was electrocuted before he fell off the ladder," Gratzianna said.

Morrow's ladder, Gratzianna said, was placed into wires on the roof, which could have caused electrocution.

"And I didn't see any bees," Gratzianna said.

After the incident, ComEd arrived at the scene to shut off the power.

Morrow was a resident of the 300 block of Shelburne Drive in Carol Stream.
