Schaumburg's Miss Septemberfest to be crowned Sept. 4

Miss Septemberfest will be announced at a luncheon at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at Chandler's Chophouse in Schaumburg. The crowning ceremony will begin at around 12:40 p.m. This luncheon, as well as the entire Miss Septemberfest program, is sponsored by the Schaumburg-Hoffman Rotary Club.

Interviews for Miss Septemberfest Court 2015 were held on Aug. 16, at the Prairie Center for the Arts. The committee interviewed 17 girls this year. To be considered, girls are between 16 and 19 years old and residents of the Village of Schaumburg. They were judged on four criteria: poise, character, community involvement and knowledge of Schaumburg. The five court members were announced after the interviews.

Miss Septemberfest will be presented with a $500 scholarship and each member of the court receives a $250 scholarship from the Schaumburg/Hoffman Rotary Club. The Rotary sponsors the Miss Septemberfest crowning ceremony luncheon and parade float. The Sons and Daughters of Italy provide Miss Septemberfest with a $1,000 scholarship, and give $250 to each of the court members. Each candidate also receives gift certificates from Mario Tricoci, as well as a festival gift bag, trophy, flowers, and sash courtesy of the village of Schaumburg and Schaumburg Jaycees.
