Support animal shelter at Cruise Nite Aug. 18

Join the Young Professionals Council of the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce in the "Dog Days of Summer" fundraiser during the Cruise Nite event from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, along Riverside Drive in downtown St. Charles.

They will raise money and collect wish list items for Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin. There will be on-site pet adoptions, a kissing booth and raffles at this event.

Just For Paws Pet Salon will be providing free pet nail clippings to those who donate an item from Anderson Animal Shelter's "wish list" below:

• Cat items: canned cat food -Fancy Feast, Pate, Friskies Pate & 9 Lives; food, Fish Flavors Whiskas, Perfectly Fish Packets, training treats, glucosamine chondroitin, vitamins/supplements.

• Dog items: XL Rawhide Bones or Nylabones, Large Kongs, training treats, glucosamine chondroitin vitamins, supplements omega 3-6-9 capsules

• Paper towels

• Gift cards to Petco, PetSmart, Costco.

There will also be many raffle items, including Townhouse Books & Cafe gift certificate, Ruffner's Luxury Pet Boarding basket, DePauw University, Canine Campus Inc. basket, Kane County Cougars tickets, Fox Valley Repertory tickets and more.

There will be music by @Behind Behind the Beats Productions.

There will also be trivia, a 50/50 raffle, sponsors and vendors providing giveaways, face painting and other fun activities.

Food and beverages available and there are food specials at surrounding restaurants.
