West Nile virus found in Lake County

A mosquito carrying West Nile virus has been found for the first time this summer in Lake County, the Lake County Health Department reported Thursday. The insect was found in Gurnee on July 16. Last year, two humans, one bird and 31 batches of mosquitoes tested positive for the potentially dangerous disease. To report areas of stagnant water, which are conducive for mosquito breeding, call the county's West Nile hotline at (847) 377-8300.
