12 years in prison for Des Plaines man who sexually abused girl
A 53-year-old Des Plaines man accused of sexually abusing several young girls pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
Pareshkumar Desai was sentenced Friday to 12 years in prison in exchange for pleading guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse and eight years for predatory criminal sexual assault, court records show. He was also sentenced to three years each on two additional charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, court records show. The judge ordered Desai serve the sentences concurrently.
He must complete at least 85 percent of his sentences before he is eligible for parole.
Desai, who received credit for 878 days in custody, was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and to pay $984 in fines.
Family members of one of the victims called Cook County Sheriff's Police in February, 2013, after the then 9-year-old victim told a relative Desai had touched her and two 8-year-olds at a family gathering in Mount Prospect.
