Police continue to search for motive in Arlington Hts. murder-suicide
Arlington Heights police say they're still working to determine the circumstances that led a Carol Stream man to fatally stab his girlfriend in a motel room last week before killing himself.
Police said Luis Antonio Nonato Velasquez, 32, checked into the Motel 6 at 441 W. Algonquin Road with Cecilia Perez, 41, of Aurora, Wednesday evening. The couple was found dead about 1 p.m. Thursday, when motel workers found a large amount of blood in their room and called police to investigate.
Both died of “multiple sharp force injuries,” according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
What happened between the time the couple checked in and the discovery of their bodies remains unclear.
“We're still trying to piece together what led up to it, what was the trigger,” said Cmdr. Nathan Hayes.
