Authorities: Roselle man head-butted Metra conductor

A 64-year-old Roselle man has been charged with aggravated battery to a transit employee after authorities said he head-butted a Metra conductor earlier this month in Bensenville.

Jack Kamysz of the 22W100 block of Irving Park Road appeared Tuesday morning before Judge Richard Russo, who set his bond at $50,000. His next court date is Aug. 3 in front of Judge Liam Brennan.

Authorities said Kamysz was on a Metra train approaching the Bensenville station around 6:54 p.m. July 6 when a conductor approached him and asked for his fare. Kamysz responded with a vulgarity, authorities said. When the conductor tried to escort him to the train's vestibule, authorities said Kamysz head-butted the conductor and broke his nose.

Metra police removed Kamysz from the train at the Bensenville station.

"The allegations against Mr. Kamysz are outrageous," DuPage State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release. "This type of unprovoked attack on a man who was just doing his job will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be met with the full force of the law."
