Food, music and fun at Watch City Lodge 131's Friends & Family Day

Watch City Lodge 131 (Free & Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliated) of Elgin hosted their second annual Friends & Family Day on Saturday, June 27, at Wing Park in Elgin.

On this sunny, beautiful day, many children, teens, and adults from the Elgin community participated in this free event that consisted of delicious food, soulful music, dancing, games, laughter, and lots of fun!

"Our lodge was very pleased to provide our community with a free and fun event," says Jerry Alexander, Worshipful Master of Watch City Lodge 131.

According to Alexander, the lodge's mission is to provide services to the Elgin community throughout the year, which includes free back-to-school haircuts and school supplies for Elgin's school age children, feed-the-needy programs during various holiday events, tutoring and mentoring our youth, picnics as well as other social events.

Membership in Watch City Lodge 131 (or any Masonic Lodge) is open to all men 18 years of age or older. According to Alexander, the belief in a supreme being regardless of religion and the immortality of the soul are essential. Potential members must be men of good report and can only be recommended by members in good standing.
