Wet, wild, fun at Fox Lake Fireman's Festival
The Fox Lake Volunteer Fire Association will host its 57th annual fireman's festival Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, at the old volunteer firehouse on Washington Street in Ingleside.
The festival begins at 4:30 p.m. Saturday with the firefighters water fights. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m., with the competition beginning at 5 p.m.
The teams of five firemen will be tasked to use water from fire hoses to push a small, empty beer keg across a white line. Each team consists of five people - two working the nozzle, two people holding the fire hose and one anchor.
A super raffle will be held after the water fights.
The band Rock Star Rodeo will begin playing at 8 p.m. in the middle of the street. There will be dancing, food, games and refreshments served until midnight.
Registration for the businessmen and women water fights kicks off at 10 a.m. Sunday, with the water fights starting at noon. Trophies will be presented to the winners at the end of the water fights that afternoon.
A regular raffle drawing will be held at the conclusion of the water fights. The cost per raffle ticket is $5 or a block of five for $20. First raffle prize is $1,500, second prize is $1,000, and third prize is $500.
Food, refreshments and games will also be available throughout the day, including a water slide and rock climbing wall for people to try out.
The 100 block of Washington Street in front of the volunteer firehouse will be closed throughout the two-day festival.
