Relay For Life in Schaumburg raises more than $70,000

The Relay For Life of Schaumburg Hoffman Estates began at 6 p.m. Friday and was to run through 6 a.m. Saturday.

The fundraiser for the American Cancer Society had raised more than $70,000 in pledges as of Friday evening, with 26 teams with 210 participants walking through the night.

The event was held at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Road.

The Relay For Life is the world's largest a fundraising event to end cancer. It unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight.
