Park Board Appoints Kevin Tan as New Commissioner

OAK BROOK, IL --June 16, 2015 The Oak Brook Park District Board of Commissioners has appointed Kevin Tan as the park district's newest commissioner. Tan will serve the remaining two years of the six-year term that was recently vacated by John O'Brien, who resigned after 21 years of service due to health reasons. The seat will be up for election again in 2017.

The Oak Brook Park District Board of Commissioners received resumes from seven interested candidates. All candidates were interviewed and the board announced Tan's appointment during the regular meeting on Monday, June 15. "We were thrilled to have so many qualified and passionate residents willing to step up and volunteer to help serve the community," said park board president, Sharon Knitter.

Kevin Tan has been a resident of Oak Brook for five years. He currently resides in Trinity Lakes with his wife and one child. The Tan family has actively participated in park district programming for five years. Kevin Tan's daughter Jasmine, 12, a young art enthusiast, participates in the park district's annual cover design contest and enjoys racing in Cori's Triathlon.

Kevin Tan is a retired Chief Investment Officer, bringing a new perspective in finance to the board.

The Oak Brook Park District Board of Commissioners meets at the Family Recreation Center, 1450 Forest Gate Road, on the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise posted. A full list of meeting dates, agendas, and minutes may be found online at www.obparks.org.
