Glendale Heights girl killed when struck by vehicle
Authorities Sunday identified a 5-year-old Glendale Heights girl as the pedestrian killed Saturday afternoon when struck by a vehicle in Hoffman Estates.
Aleeza Haq was pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m. from injuries suffered in the crash, according to a release from the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Hoffman Estates police said the girl walked onto West Thacker Street, just east of Illinois Boulevard, about 12:27 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle driven by a 52-year-old Hoffman Estates resident struck her.
She was not conscious or breathing when emergency responders arrived, police said. Life saving techniques were initiated and she was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she later died, authorities said.
The medical examiner's office Sunday said Aleeza died of multiple injuries, and ruled her death to be accidental.
Police continue to investigate, but said Sunday that no citations have been issued and none are expected.
