Boyfriend killed coming to woman's aid at party

A suspect is in custody and charges are expected in the fatal stabbing of an Aurora teenager and the beating and stabbing of his Chicago girlfriend after a graduation party near Glen Ellyn. Verkita Vargas, 19, told NBC 5 that Tehavis Price, 19, was fatally stabbed after he rushed to her aid after she was hit in the face and stabbed in the side. Full story.

Home catches fire near Libertyville

Libertyville and several surrounding fire departments battled a blaze last night in a ranch home in an unincorporated area near Libertyville. The home, under construction after catching fire about six months ago, sits in a heavily wooded estate area on the 1100 block of Oak Spring Lane, neighbors say. Full story.

Two pedestrians were seriously injured last night after being hit by a car in Palatine, fire officials said. The crash happened around 7 p.m. on Smith Street at the intersection of Brandon Court, officials said. Full story.

Police: Woman tried to rob Aurora bank

A woman wearing a sundress attempted to rob an Aurora bank over the weekend, police say. At about 10:45 a.m. Saturday, the woman, wearing a black jacket and pink sundress with a piece of white tape over her nose, entered the BMO Harris Bank on the 2500 block of North Farnsworth Avenue, Aurora police said. Arrow shot at Aurora police car

Someone shot a steel-tipped arrow at an Aurora squad car over the weekend, police said. An officer heard the arrow hit his car at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday as he was parked in a church parking lot in the 300 block of east Downer, police said. Full story.

Uber driver charged with shooting at passengers in Rolling Meadows

An Uber driver is charged with shooting at a passenger who threw a rock that shattered the driver's moon roof this weekend in Rolling Meadows, authorities said yesterday. According to police, it all began when five people were picked up by Uber driver Marvin L. White after leaving a party just before 3 a.m. Saturday on the 3800 block of Central Road. Full story.
