Home catches fire near Libertyville

Libertyville and several surrounding fire departments battled a blaze Monday evening in a ranch home in an unincorporated area near Libertyville.

The home, which was under construction after catching fire about six months ago, sits in a heavily wooded estate area on the 1100 block of Oak Spring Lane, where lots are three-quarters of an acre or more, neighbor Bruce Irwin said.

"I can't smell and smoke or see any flames, but it's all continuous forest through here," said Irwin from his home two doors down. "I hear more sirens as vehicles are being called up."

A second alarm was issued, drawing additional departments and manpower to the neighborhood, which does not have hydrants.
