Elgin

• Orlando Aviles, 39, of the 400 block of Illinois Avenue, Elgin, was charged Thursday with possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence of alcohol, court records show. His bail was set at $10,000 in Kane County bond court, and his next court date is June 4.

Kane County

• A 1997 green Nissan Sentra was stolen between 8 p.m. Monday and 5:47 a.m. Tuesday from a driveway on the 100 block of Sunset Drive near Carpentersville. Sunglasses and an iPhone camera zoom also were stolen from another vehicle in the driveway.

• A red 2013 Honda motorcycle was stolen between 9:30 and 11:30 p.m. May 21 from the 39W300 block of Grand Avenue near Elgin. The bike had an estimated value of $1,956.

• Gregory J. Ross, 40, of the 600 block of Kane Street, West Dundee, was charged with domestic battery after authorities were called to the 16N600 block of Sumter Drive near West Dundee at 12:06 a.m. Saturday for a disturbance, according to a sheriff's report. He is accused of punching a woman he knew three times in the face during an argument, reports show.
